The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

God’s intent for every human being is not to perish but to have eternal life; the God life.

“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,” — John 1:12 ESV

God has a Purpose in Mind for Salvation.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” — John 14:12 ESV

Jesus Christ gave us the assurance of living a supernatural life and living beyond human limitations. We are born of the Spirit and we’ve passed from death to life so we can function like Christ o earth and are quickened to discern and to  follow God.

The Christian faith is not a religious lifestyle based on an outward appearance of godliness but rather an inner working by the Holy Spirit causing us to please God outwardly.

As born again christians we’ve  been taken over by the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus was in the flesh, God had to empower him so he could exhibit divinity on earth.

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” — Acts 10:38 ESV
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” — Acts 1:8 ESV

Jesus had to ensure that the people who would have his nature and represent him on earth would function under the same spirit that he submitted to . We have to  relate with the Holy Spirit who cultures us in the spiritual journey and nurtured us into maturity. All that Jesus did was as a result of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, similarly a believer is empowered by the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead.

God’s divine life is manifested by the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy  Spirit in the life of a believer, he is limited and can’t understand the things of the Kingdom. The Holy Spirit reveals the mind of God for us and helps us to know the will of God for us. He helps us to worship God, he even leads and guides us when making crucial decisions.

The Holy Spirit helps us to live in ways that are consistent with divinity. He gives us creativity and innovation . He can inspire us like Bezaliel and Jacob and so many other examples.  It’s important for us to understand that the Holy Spirit helps us to operate in the spiritual realm . Without the Holy Spirit we will only be religious and the life of God will not make much meaning to us. It’s not enough to take the form of godliness but lack the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is Lord

We can’t amount to anything in God without the Holy Spirit. God has given us the Holy Spirit to ensure compliance to the divine life. We can cease from the struggle of trying to please God in the flesh and begin to submit to the Holy Spirit who gives the sincere desire to please him. The Holy Spirit is  responsible for every believer that submits to him, when we cease from religious engagement into real relationship born out of true intimacy with the Holy Spirit.

The church will be weak and fail to manifest the true identity as long as we allow the lies of the enemy to hinder us. Our spiritual DNA is not of the devil but of God, we have the abilities that are given by the Spirit.

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” — 1 John 4:4 ESV

Our new life is spiritual , it is of necessity that we learn to engage this new life.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

You have a new reality in Christ . Your spirit has been born into the kingdom of God. Our citizenship in God is spiritual. If you are ignorant of this reality you will end up living as a victim. The spiritual realm is real and God has given us the privilege and the right to engage in this realm. The things we see, touch , taste and relate with physically aren’t the  ultimate reality but rather the by product of the reality which is superior which is the spiritual.

“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” — Hebrews 11:3 ESV

Every  physical thing that we see has its root in the invincible material. To allow yourself to be ruled by your five senses is to live an inferior life. It’s important to train our senses to discern between what is good and evil. The root of problems is spiritual . It’s better to engage primarily spiritually.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” — Ephesians 6:12 ESV

The Real Issues of Life are Spiritual .

“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” — 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 ESV

The real source of every challenge is spiritual. If you desire a physical adjustment, a spiritual adjustment is of necessity that’s the reason we bind demons, and engage spiritual weapons that God has given. It’s important to make your engagement in life spiritual.God has not left us alone and we have a companion who ensures that we can participate and engage as sins of God.

“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.” — 1 Corinthians 2:12 ESV

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God and from God. He is in our lives as an active participant of our spiritual journey. We need him in every inch of this journey. He knows the spiritual terrain and knows our end even before we begin the journey. The reason we can surrender and be trained by the Holy Spirit is because he is the one that ensures our compliance with life of God.

We’ve not received the spirit of this world and that’s why we are called not to live like the world . A believer that is comfortable with the world has become an enemy to God. Friendship with the world is enmity with God. The Holy Spirit ensures that we please God in every way.

In order to walk in the Spirit, we can’t treat the Him like a guest.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV

The Holy Spirit is in charge, from the day we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit is Lord and it is your responsibility to submit to him.

“even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” — John 14:17 ESV

The Holy Spirit dwells with you and is in you. He is there to teach you and ensure that you comply with the nature of God. Even in earthly games no matter how good you are , the coach helps you to become better and it’s your responsibility to submit to him. How much more do we have to submit to God the Holy Spirit who knows everything, and is not bound by time or space.

The devil is fearful of the day you learn  to submit to the Holy Spirit because he knows that once you submit to him he is in trouble. By God’s grace through this series we will create trouble for the devil and not live under the oppression and yoke of wickedness. Some believers are so afraid of demons and the devil that they can’t relate with the victory that Christ has given to them. The fear of God is void and the only consciousness they have is of demons. Your Spirit man is born again and in the container of the body we have two spirits. The recreated human spirit and the Holy Spirit. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and your Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Will Teach and Guide You

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” — John 14:26 ESV

Every time you spend in the word of God is of benefit to your spirit. The presence of the Holy Spirit within us makes Jesus as real as he was when he walked in earth.

“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.” — John 16:7 ESV

The Holy Spirit is Lord and he is in charge. He has the authority to take the inheritance that you have in Christ and give it to you.

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” — John 16:13-15 ESV
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 ESV

The transformation you experience is by the Holy Spirit and where he is regarded as Lord there is liberty.

If you don’t walk in the consciousness of the Holy Spirit, you can’t enjoy liberty.

When we resist the Holy Spirit in some areas of our lives, we don’t enjoy liberty. When you submit to the Lordship of the Holy Spirit as the one who knows all and can teach you all things you will begin to enjoy liberty. When you start asking him for help and trusting that he will help you, you will experience the liberty that is known through submission and yielding to the Holy Spirit.

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” — 1 John 4:4 ESV

As you internalize the truth that the Holy Spirit is in you and with you, and he is greater than the spirit of the world you will begin to live in this consciousness. We have the Holy Spirit in us so that we can manifest the life of God in earth. The greater one is in us, so when we bind the devil we don’t assume we have authority but we know we have authority because of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The devil will try and see if you really know and believe these truths. The greater one is in you and he is far greater than the wicked on in the world. The Holy Spirit is far superior than the spirit of this world.

We are not of this world because the greater one lives in us, the one whom the world cannot receive. If indeed Christ is alive in you, the world will not be pleased with you.

The Spirit of Adoption

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” — Romans 8:15-17 ESV

The Holy Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of God. He is the spirit of adoptions who gives us the assurance of salvation.

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.” — Galatians 4:4-7 ESV

The Holy Spirit ensures and confirms God’s ownership of your entire being and life.

“And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us,” — Acts 15:8 ESV

The Spirit of Life

“For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” — Romans 8:2 ESV

The Holy Spirit has set us free from every law of sin and death. In him we are under the government of life. Death entered by sin and the Holy Spirit gives us consistent victory over sin so that death doesn’t reign over us.

“And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” — John 20:22 ESV

The first Adam became a living soul by the breath of God. The second Adam is the quickening Spirit who gives life.

“Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’” — John 3:5-7 ESV

You can’t judge a man that is submissive to the Holy Spirit according to the flesh. By God’s Grace we will learn how to engage the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit works on our physical body and quickens us back to life.

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” — Romans 8:11 ESV

The Spirit of Worship

Your worship to God is your lifestyle of obedience not the songs we sing to God.

“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”” — John 4:23-24 ESV

The Holy Spirit helps us to comply to the standard of God . The flesh cannot please God so he ensures that our worship is born of the Spirit not carnally informed. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus, so he gives us the desire to willingly submit to the Lordship of Christ in every aspect of life. If you are conscious that you are a spirit that has the Responsibility to submit to the Holy Spirit, your Christian walk will change.

You are a spirit being that has the Holy Spirit in you whom you are to submit to.

“For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh” — Philippians 3:3 ESV

The Holy Spirit gives us a yearning for God, we can cry out abba father. The more we submit to the Holy Spirit we see that we are not satisfied with our state and he helps us to desire more of him.

“As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” — Psalm 42:1-2 ESV

When you are submissive to the Holy Spirit, you will desire more of God. The more you are conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit and you submit to him, you will desire more of God.

The letter kills and the Holy Spirit gives us life. It is of necessity that we develop a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. He ensures that we develop a real spiritual engagement with God.

“You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.” — Romans 8:9 ESV

Meditate on this scripture until your spirit is awakened to this truth and reality.  May God cause your Spirit to be awakened to him.
